Living for today

Life is short, God's way of encouraging a bit of focus.  ~Robert Brault

Over the past couple weeks I have felt out of sync. I couldn't seem to get anything done and the girls and I just couldn't see eye to eye. I finally realized that I was spending way too much time planning for tomorrow, or next week or the weekend and not enjoying the now. At the same time that I came to this realization Sienna came to a crashing halt with coughing, congestion and fever. (She is ok, it's just a nasty sinus infection). For the past few days, all my planning and organizing has been put aside to nurse my little darling back to health:) It's funny how God works. By focusing on the little moments of the now, I'm falling more in love with my family.

Sorry for the sappy post but I use this as journal/baby book and I wanted to get these feelings written:) Anyways, here are a few of the small moments of the week....
Hubby said, "Is this not the cutest thing you've ever seen?" I said "Yea not so much...Madden on the PSP is not really my goal" I guess that's something I will never understand.
Sienna wrote her name for the first time! I was so proud. Even though she needs some practice, she is so anxious to go to school and learn how to write.

When Sienna has a fever she gets really silly and talks a lot. Weird but entertaining... Here are her "fever quotes"
"No I don't want to eat my lunch, I'm just going to sit here and think."
"Mom, I'm going to sing you a song and you and Scarlett are going to dance."
"Touch the wind" will putting her hands up and dancing

Sienna's conversation with the pharmacist:
Pharm: "How are you today?"
S: "I"m bad."
Pharm: "Oh I'm sorry you don't feel good. Here shake my hand and you will feel better."
S: "No! I have germs! My mom says I have germs so I can't touch anyone!"

Haha Baby Bonnet
This little stinker has figured out when she screams we come running. She has been giving us a run for our money at night....on the other hand she can now do the sign for more, is singing a lot (she makes a little "o" with her mouth and sings) and is rolling/scooting all over the place. Crazy little girl!

Elephants! Elephants!!

After being cooped up all week because of illness and cold/gross weather, the girls found a new love...elephants. Specifically Bo the circus elephant. On Friday, Hubby briefly slipped away from work to give Sienna some much needed special attention. They got to see the elephants from the circus eat their lunch of apples and bananas. Sunday we went as a family to the (quite strange) Shriner Circus. The girls loved it...especially Bo's performance. Scarlett learned this little skill this week too and has been doing it non stop. It's funny except when she has green beans in her mouth...
Watching elephants eat

I thought it was crazy that they eat the whole bunch of bananas at once!

Oh Scarlett....lets hope you don't end up in the circus

I swear she liked it, just not the camera

Go Bo!!

My mid-mid-life crisis

**Side note, I started writing this post a couple days ago when I had healthy children and apparently nothing to worry about except myself. Please excuse this self-centered post! The ladies are doing well. Sienna just seems to have a cold. **

My sister's Xmas gift to me

leggings + Jeans= my new best friend

So in about a month I will be thirty and it's really getting to me! I know, thirty is not that big of a deal but for some reason I just feel like on that day I will wake up and be that old mom that only wears Disney sweat shirts and mom jeans. (As much as this house does love Disney and jeans that cover your back....)

To get rid of the "plain-jane brown" Now to hang on to my twenties a little longer I have dyed my hair darker, fallen in love with jeggings and spent way to much time in Fover21. So whats next for my mid-mid-life crisis? New boots? Season pass to The Bachelor? Who knows....

Now back to my beautiful daughters who make me proud to be an old mom:)

Momtini in the kitchen

So being the "Martha Stewart" (haha) that I am, I asked for an apron for Xmas. Hubby teamed up with my ubber talented seamstress friend to get me this for all my cooking needs. I love it! Notice the wrinkles in it since I really do wear it daily.

New year, new blog

Now that it's 2011 I thought I would make a few (blogging) changes. I hope you like the new home of Momtini! Look for new video clips of my crazy world soon.

Me and the girls fell right back into our daily routines once Hubby went back to work. I was worried that we would all be left helpless but we picked right up where we left off. Sienna is appreciating all her Christmas gifts even more now. Oh how I love the bounce house (AKA nap-o-matic). She has never slept so well:) Scarlett had her 6 month check and all is perfect. The dr. suggested making her room completely dark at night (no nightlight) to help her sleep through the night. So far, that has just led me to stubbing my toe while fumbling around in her room at 2am... Here is a little of what we have been up to.
